Pukka

Recently opening on St. Clair West, Pukka (@pukkatoronto) brings to the city a contemporary take on Indian food. Owned by Derek Valleau (formerly of Crush Wine Bar) and Harsh Chawla (a restaurant-industry consultant), the restaurant has an impressive roster of chefs with previous experience at Amaya and Scaramouche. Oh, and not to mention sommelier Peter Boyd who previously worked at Scaramouche. He came up with a great wine program at Pukka which isn’t an easy task given the bold and spicy flavours of Indian food. But I can assure you, you’ll be in good hands here!

GIVEAWAY: Spinning Plates Premiere (Closed)

The critically acclaimed and award-winning restaurant documentary, Spinning Plates is coming to Toronto! Bringing together the stories of three different restaurants and the people behind them, it’s definitely a movie that’s fit for a foodie.

Sugar Tooth Fairy

With so many cupcake stores opening up in the city, I think we’ve all felt a bit of cupcake fatigue. But all it takes is one delicious cupcake and all that cupcake fatigue melts away. Over the weekend we received a special cupcake delivery from Tania Grafstein-Ho (aka the Sugar Tooth Fairy) and after one bite, I fell in love with cupcakes again.

Bent

I’m not usually a big fan of Asian fusion but if there’s one person who can get it right, it’s definitely Susur Lee. Bent (@BentRestaurant), which is just over a year old, was opened by Susur and his sons Kai and Levi Bent-Lee. It’s quite the family affair as the space was designed and named after Brenda Bent, Susur’s wife and mother of Kai and Levi.

Cafe Bar Pasta (Now Closed)

Since opening up this past summer, Cafe Bar Pasta (@CAFEBARPASTA) has been serving up delicious house-made pasta dishes. With head chef Jay Scaife (@chefjayscaife) in the kitchen and a fantastic selection of wines on tap, this restaurant is a wonderful addition to the Brockton Village neighborhood.
