After our seafood feast at Chuen Kee, our friends led us to a popular dessert shop a short walk away. Honeymoon Dessert originated in Sai Kung and is now a successful chain across Asia.

This quaint little shop is known for their mango and durian desserts. Being a big fan of durian, I was in dessert heaven!

Our friends highly recommended the Durian & Thai Black Glutinous Rice. They were really talking it up and it didn’t disappoint! It consisted of a scoop of creamy durian, a scoop of black glutinous rice, coconut cream and ice.

The creamy durian was delicious and I loved the chewiness of the black glutinous rice. The coconut cream and ice was very much necessary to help balance out the rich and pungent fruit. This dessert is an absolute must for durian fans!

Durian is definitely an acquired taste and Mike hasn’t acquired it just yet. I’m still working on it! He decided to go with the Mango & Thai Black Glutinous Rice. It was essentially the same dessert but with sweet chunks of mango instead of the durian and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Another home run!

We also shared an order of Mango Pancakes (2 per order) which consisted of a thin crepe wrapped around fresh pieces of mango and cream. The dessert had just the right amount of sweetness and I loved the lightness of the cream used.

The last thing we shared was the Durian Glutinous Dumplings (3 per order). Each chewy dumpling encased a scoop of durian and was dusted with a sprinkling of coconut flakes. I’m a sucker for these durian desserts so needless to say, I enjoyed the dumplings. But let’s be honest…it was the durian with black glutinous rice which stole the show!
