Having worked as the executive pastry chef for Daniel Boulud and with his recent 2013 James Beard Finalist nomination for “Outstanding Pastry Chef”, it’s no surprise I ended up at Dominique Ansel’s bakery twice during my last trip to NYC.
One of the most anticipated restaurant openings in NYC last year had to be Mission Chinese Food. Brought to you by Danny Bowien, James Beard 2012 and 2013 finalist for “Rising Star Chef of the Year”, Mission Chinese Food serves up what he calls “Americanized Oriental Food.”
If there’s one thing Allen’s is known for, it’s definitely their burger, which some argue is the best in Toronto. Open since 1987, Allen’s is located on the Danforth just east of Broadview. It’s got a pub feel to it but you’ll find that the prices are higher than the typical pub.
While running some errands in the Highway 7 area one weekend, Mike and I dropped by New City Restaurant for a quick lunch. Located in Peachtree Plaza at Highway 7 and Kennedy, the parking situation can be a bit of a nightmare. But if you can find a spot, this HK-style café is well worth a visit.
