La Carnita (Riverside)

In the past year, the La Carnita family tripled in size. This popular taco joint started out years ago as a pop-up at TUM (Toronto Underground Market), the foodie market which launched numerous pop-ups into brick-and-mortar restaurants.

Kwan

Usually when we need to satisfy our dim sum craving, we drive up north to Markham. So when we had to plan a lunch in the city, things got a little tricky. While sifting through my list of bookmarked restaurants, I came across Kwan, located at Yonge and St. Clair. The restaurant doesn’t get a lot of buzz so we took a gamble and dropped by for lunch.

Windsor Arms (Brunch)

Every Sunday, the Windsor Arms (@windsorarms) offers a wonderful brunch buffet in their Courtyard Café. While they’ve offered Sunday brunch for quite some time, it’s recently been refreshed and the result is certainly worth of the splurge!

[Boston] Island Creek Oyster Bar

The Island Creek Oysters farm was founded back in 1992 by Skip Bennett in Duxbury, Massachusetts. With a commitment to provide chefs with high-quality oysters, it was only natural that they would open up their very own oyster bar. They still supply many restaurants with oysters in and around the Boston area – we noticed Island Creek oysters on many menus.

During our Boston trip, we were determined to try at least one lobster roll per day. After indulging in several pricey restaurant lobster rolls, we dropped into the no-frills James Hook & Co (@JamesHookCo) for a more reasonably priced roll.
