Notorious for the lines, my sister, Mike and I arrived at 4:40, twenty minutes before Toshi Sushi opened at 5pm. Unfortunately, a large line had already formed outside and I was certain we’d have to wait for the next seating. As we entered the tiny restaurant, I crossed my fingers and hoped they’d be able to squeeze us in. It just so happened that there were three seats left at the sushi bar. Luck was definitely on our side.
To start off my long weekend, I dropped by Bonjour Brioche for brunch with Chris. I wanted to come here a couple weeks ago but unfortunately they aren’t open on Mondays and ended up at Lady Marmalade instead. This time, we came by on a Friday.
Mike and I were trying to decide where to go after work on a Friday. We initially wanted to go somewhere just to grab drinks, but ended up at Marben instead. Located in on Wellington, between Bathurst and Spadina, I had never noticed this restaurant before… probably because I had never walked past C Lounge on Wellington.
The first time I went to Nadège, I had never actually heard of this place. I was intrigued by the white, pristine-looking pastry shop which occupies a spot on my shopping strip (aka Queen West). Walking inside, I immediately noticed the minimalist décor. The walls and furniture are all white, giving the shop a very sterile feel.
After finding out I was going to DC for a work trip, Mike suggested I try Good Stuff Eatery, Spike Mendelsohn’s restaurant (we’re big Top Chef fans!). So, after doing some research, I hopped on the metro and got off at Capital South station. I was surprised to find myself in a very residential area. After walking a few blocks, I was starting to wonder if I misread the map on my computer and began to regret not investing in a US data pack for my phone. Luckily, after turning a corner, I finally made it to Good Stuff Eatery.
