After having a craving for some HK-style café food, Mike and I ended up at Phoenix, an HK-style café with three locations. The location we visited was the one on Bayview, just south of Highway 7, in the random plaza with the Dollarama.

[NYC] Doughnut Plant

I’ve been to the original Doughnut Plant location in East Village three times but they also have a second location in the Chelsea district. You can also get their specialty doughnuts in several coffee shops in the city, as well as at Dean and Deluca. According to their website, they also have stores in Japan and Korea…who knew?

Prague Fine Food Emporium (Now Closed)

Ever since going to Veselka in New York, I’ve had a craving for Eastern European food. That’s where Prague Fine Food Emporium came in. While reading their menu online, I was drooling over the thought of their special – the pork hock.

[NYC] Locanda Verde

We didn’t make a reservation for our last evening in New York and were just playing it by ear. When our last day rolled around, we decided to give Locanda Verde a try. Since it was a little late to make a reservation, we just walked in around six on a Thursday and were seated within five minutes.

Off the Hook

One Saturday afternoon, Mike and I decided to give the newly opened Off the Hook a try. Serving up fish and chips, Off the Hook is located on Broadview, just a short walk from the subway  station.
