A few months ago, a few friends and I dropped by Pearl Diver for their #100for100 Thursday night oyster special featuring 100 shucked oysters for $100. We had such a great time that I knew it wouldn’t be long before I was back. This time around, it was for their newly launched brunch menu.
For those of you unfamiliar with the restaurant, Pearl Diver occupies the space that used to be the home of Starfish. After serving up oysters and seafood for 13 years, they closed up shop last year for a revamp and reopened as Pearl Diver.
The restaurant is located on Adeleide, between Church and Jarvis. With spaced out tables and large booths, you certainly won’t feel cramped in here.
Before I get to brunch, there are a few specials that oyster fans should know about, in addition to the Thursday #100for100 deal. Zinc and Drink is from noon to 6pm Sundays to Fridays with a dozen oysters for $15 and $5 feature drinks. Late Night Shuck offers the same deal but is every night from 10pm to close.
Okay, let’s get back to brunch! Pearl Diver has a very enticing menu consisting of classic brunch material including a classic breakfast and steak & eggs, as well as more lunch-type dishes like the Pearl Diver burger and chowder. They also have an entire section dedicated to benny’s including a veggie option with kale and mushrooms.
We were invited to check out the launch of their new brunch menu. Here’s a look at some of their offerings:
Panko Fried BC Oyster Omelette – with homefries & toast ($15)
Lobster Benny ($19)
Smoked New Brunswick Sturgeon Benny – with arugula & preserved lemon ($15)
The PD Sweet Special (French Toast)
Drooling yet? Make sure you save room for their sweet special. Pearl Diver may be known for their seafood but they make a killer French toast. Brunch is offered every Sunday – make your reservation on Bookenda now!
*This was a complimentary meal. The opinions in the post, as always, are my own.*
