Charles Khabouth strikes again! A partnership between his company, INK Entertainment (@INKevents) and Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants (@OliverBonacini) has resulted in a luxurious new hotspot in the heart of the financial district.
Located on the 31st floor of the Trump Hotel at the corner of Bay and Adeleide, America (@America_Toronto) is inspired by the opulence and luxury of the 5-star hotel it calls home.
The 110-seat restaurant features sky-high ceilings and trendy décor. The space is divided into a small bar/lounge area and the main dining room. It even has a narrow outdoor terrace with seats where you can enjoy a drink or two. It’s a really gorgeous space – I’d expect nothing less from a Charles Khabouth operation.
America is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and as you’d expect, they’re serving up reimagined takes on classic American dishes. The man in charge is O&B Corporate Executive Chef Anthony Walsh with Bill Osborne as Chef de Cuisine and Markus Bestig (Trump Hotel Toronto’s exec chef) rounding out the team.
On the menu, you’ll find some pretty fancy fare including a crispy frog cobb salad, foie gras flapjacks, caviar ($150 for 30g) and the beef shin BBQ for $175 which feeds 4-6 people.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, the space is transformed into a supper club offering entertainment and fine dining. Themes for the nights are: Downtown Thursdays, American Hustle Fridays and Cabaret Saturdays. So, take your pick.
During these evenings, treat yourself to cocktails, tasty small plates, bottle service and live music. America also features live DJ programming and specially curated events, so keep an eye out.
I recently attended the launch party for America and had a fantastic time. With great entertainment and delicious food, Khabouth and O&B certainly know how to throw a party. Here’s a look at what we sampled throughout the evening:
Soho Cosmo – Bevedere, soho, crème de cassis, cranberry juice & lemon juice
Pompelmo Rosa – No3 London Dry Gin, Campari, grapefruit juice, grapefruit bitters
Hennessy Negroni – Hennessy VS, sweet vermouth, Campari
Savoury Buttermilk & Garlic Dip – maytag blue, garden veggies, potato & root crisps
Ahi Tuna Poke Ceviche – pineapple, macadamia nuts, coffee, coconut
Goat Cheese Crostini
Beef Shin BBQ with Mac & Cheese
At the Dessert Bar: Carrot Cake Macarons, Nitro Marhsmallows, Jack Daniel’s Bonbons
If you’re looking for a place in the financial district with a mix of great entertainment and delicious (albeit expensive) food, America’s got you covered!
