Described as “an exhibition celebrating food and art”, the Art of Food exhibit is running until September 27th at the Urban Gallery.

Last week, we dropped by the gallery (located on Queen St East, just east of Parliament) for an artisanal food tasting event and had the chance to check out the fantastic exhibit which features food-themed artwork by 10 Canadian artists.

The exhibit is also in celebration of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the next door UrbanSource Catering which put out a really incredible charcuterie spread. Just look at this:

Maple candied smoked trout, homemade pork & fennel sausage, country pâté, beef carpaccio and chicken liver parfait

Tea-smoked duck breast, cured meats and pickles

They didn’t forget about the vegetarians… it’s a vegetarian pâté!

Other creative goodies included dried fennel and lemon fried olives

Some of the local artisanal products featured at the event included Whisky & Spice (@whiskyandspice) mustards. They offer a trio of mustards (whisky honey mustard, riesling apple mustard and porter pepper mustard) made with Canadian mustard seed, spices and premium wine, spirits and craft beer. The mustards are truly something unique and will definitely be making an appearance on my next charcuterie and cheese platter!

ChocolaChocola (@chocolachocola1) also made an appearance with samples of their fun chocolates including matcha dusted chocolate almonds and spicy truffled almonds.

We also had some delicious Black Creek Porter on hand to wash down our treats

If you don’t have a chance to check out the Art of Food exhibit before it ends this week, make sure you check out some of these great locally-made products!
