Operating as a nightclub on the weekends, who knew that The Hoxton (@the_hoxton) could be such a versatile space. A couple weeks ago, I attended the launch of P&L Catering’s new spring menu which showcased the great space along with some fantastic food.

The venue and P&L Catering (@PnLCatering) are brought to us by The Social Group (TSG) partners, Richard Lambert and Jesse Girard with Executive Chef Matty Matheson (@mattydeathbro) in the kitchen. Some of their other ventures include Parts and Labour, Dog and Bear and the recently opened P&L Burger.

The Hoxton

The Hoxton, located at King and Bathurst, is an 8,000 sq ft venue featuring gorgeous exposed brick walls, a semi-private raised VIP area, two bars and a stage that’s perfect for dj’s and corporate presentations. The venue operates as a weekend night club and concert venue so I was impressed by how they were able to transform the space into a beautiful event venue that would work for a wedding or cocktail party.

The space can comfortably fit 650 people for a cocktail reception, 120 people with theatre-style seating and up to 100 people for a seated dinner. But if you’ve already got a venue in mind, you can still take advantage of the amazing food by P&L Catering as well as their full-service event planning staff they have on hand.

They’re a very flexible bunch – whether you want canapés, food stations or a multi-course dinner, they’re happy to accommodate. P&L Catering’s new spring menu features some drool-worthy bites including chicken liver banh mi bites, popcorn cauliflower and caprese skewers, to name a few. They also feature fun family-style dinners: French Country-style which includes cote du beouf, mussels and rillettes, or Italian-style which features a delicious spread of antipasto, meatballs and lasagna.

Here’s a look at some of their new menu offerings I sampled:

Mike and I were both incredibly impressed with P&L Catering’s new menu items. There wasn’t one item we didn’t enjoy! My personal favourites had to be the P&L slider (of course!), the fried chicken and deep fried avocado.

Chef Matty clearly knows his way around a burger. After all, they were crowned as the city’s best burger by CMT’s (Country Music Television) Burger Wars which prompted the opening of P&L Burger on Queen West.

I also loved the fried chicken which was wonderfully crispy while moist and juicy on the inside. With a little dollop of spicy aioli and you’ve got yourself a damn good bite!

One of the surprising highlights of the evening was the deep fried avocado wrap. As all of you probably know, I’m a serious carnivore so it means a lot when I profess my love for a meatless dish. I loved how the crisp exterior of the avocado contrasted so nicely with the creamy interior. It paired perfectly with a bit of sweet hoisin sauce and the refreshing radishes. Delish!

So, looking for a catering company? P&L Catering has got you covered. With several successful restaurants under their belt and and Chef Matty in charge, you’ll be in good hands!
