Milestones (@MilestonesCa) is now featuring a new Homestyle Chefs’ menu inspired by the worldwide travels of Executive Chef Jason Rosso (@jasonrosso). Last week I had the opportunity to check out the new menu at their Dundas Square location and was quite impressed by what they have to offer.

A Bellini

We started our evening at the bar section of the Dundas Square location and we were subsequently led to their private dining room for dinner. I absolutely loved the space which featured wood panel walls, a long gorgeous wooden table and beautiful light fixtures. It just felt very warm and rustic – not very chain-like at all!

Needless to say, we were very well fed! From the canapés we sampled (smaller versions of items offered on the their menu), my favourites were the Chorizo & Mozzarella Fritter and Adobo Prime Rib Poutine. Those fritters were the perfect little bite – nice and crispy on the outside, gooey cheese on the inside, a bit of saltiness from the chorizo and a delicious smoked paprika aioli for dipping. Nothing but love for this tasty appetizer.

The poutine was another excellent starter. I loved the thin slices of prime rib and the smoked gouda was a great choice. I could’ve easily inhaled a full portion of this.

From the dinner portion of the evening, my favourites were the Winter Root Vegetable Salad, Butter Chicken Risotto and Truffled Tenderloin Medallions. As a meat lover, who would’ve thought that I’d fall in love with a meatless salad? I loved each and every component of the winter root vegetable salad. The perfectly roasted veggies paired incredibly well with the briny feta, sweetness from the cranberries and crunch from the pecans. I particularly liked that they added barley as well. Definitely a home run salad!

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about the Butter Chicken Risotto but was pleasantly surprised. The tender pieces of chicken were well cooked and the creamy butter chicken sauce was delicious. The bed of risotto was a great vehicle to soak up every bit of that sauce.

As for the Truffled Tenderloin Medallions, the minute the dish was placed in front of me, I knew I was going to enjoy it. The aroma had me instantly salivating – it’s those truffles!
