Brought to you by the record label Arts and Crafts, the Field Trip Music festival was their way of celebrating their 10th anniversary. The full-day event was held last Saturday at the Fork York Garrison Common and featured artists from their music label including Broken Social Scene and Feist.

I attended the festival with fellow foodie Abbey (Abbey’s Kitchen) to enjoy the music and most importantly, to pig out on all the great food at the event. The vendors were curated by Toronto Underground Market (TUM). If you’ve never heard of them before, they usually hold events at the Evergreen Brickworks and is a place “for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their products.” They’re famous for kick-starting popular eateries which include the likes of La Carnita and Rock Lobster.

There were also some food trucks at the event so we decided to hit them up first. Here’s a look at our good eats…

Nutella Bombs – with a corn flake batter, bourbon caramel and whipped cream  from The Food Dudes truck (@TheFoodDudesTO). Best. Things. Ever.

Honey Pita Sticks – deep fried pita bread drizzled with greek honey from the Blue Donkey Streatery, a food truck serving up Greek cuisine (@bluedonkeytruck).

Butter Chicken & Waffles from the Royal Tree Beaver, a Toronto pop-up serving what they call “Canadian-Canadian” cuisine or “food from absolutely anywhere in the world” according to their website (@RoyalTreeBeaver).

Spicy Fried Chicken Karaage Sandwich – with a cabbage slaw and grilled scallion mayo from the Ace, a Roncesvalles restaurant housed inside a 1950’s diner (@TheAceToronto).

Traditional Aussie Meat Pie – with minced beef in a rich beef, tomato and vegemite gravy from Kanga (formerly called Meat Pie Mates), a vendor who specializes in handheld, flakey, delicious meat pies (@EatKanga).

Bison Short Rib Bun from Hot Bunzz (@HotBunzzTO) who specializes in Chinese bao’s filled with western-style proteins like wild boar and elk. They’ve also just recently opened up a permanent spot at the Yonge and St. Clair Urban Bistro.

Babi on a Bun – Braised pork belly on a fried Chinese bun with pickled cucumbers from Babi & Co (@babiandco) who specializes in tasty Indonesian street food.

O’ Canada Ice Cream Sandwich – maple bacon ice cream and a red velvet whoopee pie from Sweet Sammies Ice Cream Sandwich Co. Their handcrafted sandwiches are made with fresh and local ingredients with no preservatives or artificial flavours (@SweetSammiesCA).

    I saw your check in last week at Fort York lol I was wondering what you’re doing there – nonetheless seems like a cool event. (i want the duck confit quesadilla!!)
