Good news for jazz lovers in Toronto – Jazz Bistro, a new three-level music and dining venue has just opened!

I was invited to their media event held last week and was pleased by what I saw. The space, which once housed the jazz institution Top O’ The Senator, has been completely renovated.

The view from the second level balcony

The main level contains the performance stage, a bar and a full-service dining room. The second level, which has a second bar, is a little more intimate. There’s a balcony peering onto the stage so the music can be heard throughout the entire venue.

The second level

I didn’t see the third floor but it’s more of a private space to hold events. Another plus is that there’s a rooftop patio!

The feature piece of the venue is a gorgeous one-of-a-kind Red Pops Steinway piano. Live music is scheduled from Tuesdays to Sundays with the music usually beginning at 9pm. Check their website (http://jazzbistro.ca/) and/or twitter feed (@JazzBistro_ca) for performers.

The performers

Jazz Bistro has an extensive menu of appetizers, salads, pastas and mains which include the likes of crispy duck confit, arctic char and bouillabaisse.

Lamb

During the evening we were served little cocktail bites which I’m pleased to say were delicious! Some of the hors d’oeuvres included lamb, bacon and egg mimosas (addictive!), smoked salmon on blini’s and shrimp caesars. With the great space and tasty hors d’oeuvres, Jazz Bistro would be ideal for a corporate event!

Bacon & Eggs!

With the opening of Jazz Bistro, jazz lovers can finally rejoice!
