Located on Queen Street, just west of Bathurst is Chococrepe (@chococrepeTO), a quaint and cozy creperie. The space has a really warm feel to it, furnished with cottage décor.

They’re open late – 11pm Tuesdays to Thursdays and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.  While Chococrêpe occupies a narrow space, there’s plenty of seating. Mike and I dropped by on a Friday evening and  found the place quite empty.

For those not looking for a crepe, they have a selection of salads with dressings made in-house. I also hear they make a mean hot chocolate made from melted Valhrona chocolate. While it’s a little too hot for hot chocolate in this weather, perhaps I’ll give it a try when it gets a little cooler out…and when I’m in the mood to spend $5.95 on a hot chocolate.

As for their crepes, the menu is separated into savoury crepes and sweet crepes. Since I came with Mike, we decided to order one of each.

For our savoury crepe, we decided on the Country Crepe – caramelized pear, wood smoked bacon, cheddar ($9.50). Their savoury crepes are of the buckwheat variety which is a little drier in texture than I’m used to.  Also, unlike the thicker and chewier crepes from Crêpes à GoGo these crepes are really thin. While, I prefer the type from Crêpes à GoGo, I really enjoyed this country crepe. I loved the sweetness from the pear and the saltiness from the bacon. Delish!

For our sweeter choice, we decided on the Nutty Banana – peanut butter, banana, dark chocolate ($8.25). Although we didn’t, you can add a scoop of gelato or sorbet to any crepe for an extra $3. I’m not sure if all the sweet crepes come with a vanilla cream sauce, but this crepe came with a side of it. Overall, I thought it was a delicious crepe. You really can’t go wrong with this classic combination.

Ooh…I passed by this place when I was making my way to Nadège and was wondering what their crêpes were like. I think I’ll try it next week. Are there any types you would recommend besides the 2 you mentioned?
    Thanks for sharing Jess!!!

I can’t really speak for the other crepes since I only tried the two. I think I’ll have to be back to try their other offerings 🙂
