Being a big fan of Top Chef Canada and season 2 winner Carl Heinrich, I couldn’t wait to try out his new restaurant. Carl and his partner Ryan Donovan opened up Richmond Station this past October to great reviews which only fueled my interest to drop by for a visit.
With the rising popularity of ramen in Toronto, is it any surprise that I’m writing yet another ramen post? Ramen Raijin is another new addition to the Toronto ramen scene and is brought to you by Daiji Matsubara who opened up Kintaro and Motomachi Shokudo in Vancouver.
Upon entering Spuntini, located in Yorkville just above Sotto Sotto, we found ourselves completely ignored for a good five minutes before getting the attention of the host. Yes, it was a busy night but many employees, including the host himself walked by us multiple times without acknowledging us. Reds Wine Tavern, located in First Canadian Place, had recently undergone a major revamp – complete with renovations to the entire space, a new menu and a new executive chef. The man in charge is now Ryan Gallagher, Top Chef Canada contestant and the former chef at Lynn Crawford’s Ruby Watchco.
Living downtown, I’m always on the search for a good dim sum restaurant. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Rosewood Chinese Cuisine seems to fit the bill.
