Origin (Now Closed)

Located at the corner of King and Church, my friend and I came to Origin on a sunny Saturday for brunch. Since they have a nice patio, we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and sat outside.

[NYC] Pastis

My friend and I were debating between Balthazaar and Blue Ribbon Bakery for brunch, but decided to come here instead, since it was recommended by a co-worker and is a highly rated brunch spot in New York. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday morning and it was already pretty busy. The hostess informed us it’d be a twenty minute wait.

Spice Route

I’ve walked by this King West restaurant a number of times not knowing it was Spice Route. It’s an intriguing building, as it’s all dark with castle-like doors and torches, but it lacks signage. I only realized it was Spice Route after getting up close and personal with a small menu located outside the restaurant.

BLD (Now Closed)

Mike and I came here on a Wednesday night, only to find BLD nearly empty except for two other tables. Guess we really didn’t need to make a reservation! Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by a server who was very hospitable throughout the entire meal. BLD stands for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they start their days at 8am for breakfast. I wonder if they actually get much business during the weekdays since people generally don’t have much time for a sit-down breakfast (especially in the financial district!).

Beerbistro

One Saturday afternoon, Mike and I decided to go out for dinner that evening with another couple. Given how difficult it is to make a reservation for a Saturday on the day of at a decent restaurant, we were lucky, Beerbistro was able to accommodate us at 8:30. Conveniently located by the Yonge and King intersection, it’s a restaurant I’ve been to several times before and my experiences were always enjoyable. The restaurant was packed when we arrived and this evening and they had a live band playing jazz music, which I really enjoyed.
