Mike and I came here one Friday evening after a coworker mentioned he had a really enjoyable experience here. The restaurant is located on Queen, between Church and Jarvis. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who brought us to our table. The dining room was dimly lit, a stark contrast to the bright open kitchen in the room next door. There was a large opening to the kitchen which had no door so we could see the chefs preparing our meals.

Aunties and Uncles

Thinking that Aunties and Uncles was located right on College, Mike and I almost missed this place! It’s actually located just off of College, one block west of Bathurst on Lippincott Street. Since we had a late start to the day, we arrived just before two, one hour before it closed.

They told us they didn’t have any tables until 11 (I love how everything in NYC is open so late!), but said there were a few spaces available at the sushi bar. Since they don’t take reservations for the sushi bar, we quickly hopped in a cab and made our way over.

Raa Uptown Japanese (Now Closed)

I had purchased a coupon from one of those group-buy sites a while back for Raa Uptown Japanese, so I decided it was finally time to give it a try. The restaurant opened up recently, maybe a few months back and is located near Yonge and Sheppard. I think it used to occupy a previous Japanese restaurant, if I remember correctly.

The Burger’s Priest

Another one of those times where a restaurant is well worth the hype! Mike and I finally made our way to the Burger’s Priest on a hot Monday evening. After being stuck on the hot street car for about 20 minutes, we arrived at Burger’s Priest – a tiny burger joint with six stools and no air con. Although it was pretty busy, we were able to grab two stools as a couple was leaving. I’m pretty sure I smelled of fries and grease after leaving…
