During our visit to New York, Mike and I made a visit to Veselka, a 24-hour restaurant serving up Ukrainian and Eastern-European comfort food. Located in East Village and established in 1954, this place reminded me of a diner.
On a cold and wet day I had a huge craving for a warm bowl of noodles. Since several people had recommended Manpuku, Mike and I made our way over to the Grange by Dundas and University. Located in the Grange food court is Manpuku, a small sit-down restaurant serving up cheap and delicious bowls of udon.
After arriving in New York, our first stop was Blue Ribbon Bakery for brunch. Located on the corner of Downing and Bedford, Mike and I could see people waiting outside the restaurant as we were approaching the restaurant. We arrived around 1 on a Sunday and waited about 45 minutes before we were seated.
Since Mike and I had not eaten lunch yet before going to La Bambache to pick up some macarons, our plan was to grab a sandwich and quiche for lunch. Sadly, they were out of sandwiches so we decided to go elsewhere for lunch. After walking down Yonge street, we came across Tabule and decided to check it out.
When I had a huge craving for fish tacos one evening, Mike and I decided to drop by the Combine Eatery which is well known for their fish tacos. The recently opened restaurant is located on the Danforth, just a few minutes away from Broadview station. We came here without a reservation around six on a Friday and had no problem getting a table but it soon afterwards it got pretty busy.
